How to edit the files

After you’ve downloaded the template you’ll probably want to edit the files in order to put you own texts and images into the theme. You will need HTML/CSS skills to do this and a HTML editing program like Dreamwaver.

Continue reading for a step by step tutorial on how to set your Dreamwaver in order to put your files on your server and have them synchronized in the same time with the ones on your computer.

Open Dreamwaver and go to Site > New Site

In the window that appears input a name for your site and a web address for your website if you have one. Click next.

In the next step select “No, I do not want to use a server technology” and click next

On the next window select the root folder where you have the theme files on your computer

Next select FTP from the list and put all the FTP related info into the fields, ftp server url, username, password, etc. If you don’t have this info, get in contact with your hosting service provider.

On the next window select “No, do not enable check in and check out” and click next.

Review your info and click done.

Now you can see your files under the Files tab in the right side.

If you click the synchronize button under the Files tab you will be able to put your files on the server directly from Dreamwaver. Every time you edit any of your files and hit the synchronize button, Dreamwaver will identify the modified files and put only that files on the server enable you to easily manage your website.
